Overwhelmed by choice
Talented people are overwhelmed by choice, time poor and bombarded with information. Attention deficit is perfectly normal, cynicism rife. Many have built their own media-worlds, heaving with social and professional networks, alumni groups, headhunters, agencies, tweets, RSS feeds and bookmarks. Traditional media and methods just aren’t working anymore.

Graduate marketing expertise
We’re a recognised leader in student and graduate recruitment marketing, precisely because we’re not a typical recruitment advertising agency. Our 20 year heritage in business brand and marketing communications means we bring a broader, more media-neutral perspective to our clients’ challenges. Our thinking is shaped by our clients’ audiences’ behaviour and attitudes; which is why we’re a business of 65 people employing 25 full-time digital specialists, and why we’re likely to suggest that you do less advertising, rather than more.
Because talented students are fickle, demanding and elusive we’re constantly pioneering new approaches. Four years ago we set new standards in graduate recruitment websites with the multi-award-winning Lovells site; nine years ago we were pioneering social media methods for BT; and today we’re working with Ernst & Young and BP to use PR in ways that have never been seen before in graduate marketing.
Our current clients include Amey, BDO Stoy Hayward, Bloomberg, BP, BT, Ernst & Young, Herbert Smith, and Sainsbury’s. Our services range from research to creative idea to implementation across digital, print and face-to-face channels, including Campus Ambassador programmes.

Why we’re different
We help businesses to connect with existing and potential employees by sticking to four simple principles:
-
1
Not human resources; human beings. Ingrained in our creative process is thinking about ‘employees’ or ‘candidates’ as human beings, about why they get up and go to work in the morning and what they care about.
-
2
Always join the dots: Our heritage means we’re as comfortable with brand and marketing people as we are with HR and internal communications. We speak their different languages and join everything up, avoiding conflicts and creating solutions that work for everyone.
-
3
Media complexity demands media neutrality: Old ad agency models of communication have been rendered obsolete. A flexible, media -neutral approach is the only response. We combine expertise in areas such as PR, social media and face-to-face engagement to reach audiences in new, unexpected ways.
-
4
There’s no substitute for seniority: All our clients work closely with our most senior people. Our client partners, each with at least fifteen years experience, act as trusted advisers right through the course of a relationship, however large or small the client.

What do our clients think?
The European EVP has proven so successful as a step towards a direct resourcing model it is on track for a global rollout. Next steps will include expanding the EVP into employer reputation management, including social media approaches. We’ve been extremely impressed with how SAS handled the challenge of developing our employer brand. SAS generated not only an engaging, relevant and inspiring creative approach, but just as importantly a robust and carefully considered strategy that sits behind it and supports both our internal and external communication efforts.”
The results of our values engagement programme have been brilliant! Our internal research showed that understanding of the brand and values among employees increased by almost 13% against a target of 5%.”
SAS’s expertise has helped us to bring our EVP to life in a way that feels completely right for our business. The ‘HR Toolkit’ and other materials have been adopted very enthusiastically by our HR people around the world.”
The team and the business are very happy with the new campaign. As ever with SAS it’s an original, relevant idea, executed brilliantly across all media. It’s early days but applications are up 59%, quality is fantastic and assessment centres are filling up faster than ever.”
